Tooth-Colored Fillings
Natural-looking cavity repair that blends seamlessly

What are Tooth-Colored Fillings?
Tooth-colored fillings is a treatment used to restore teeth damaged by decay, cracks, or wear. The decayed portion is removed, and the space is filled with a tooth-coloured composite material. This restores the tooth’s function, prevents further damage, and blends naturally with your smile.
Know What to Look for in a Dental Filling

Precision under magnification
Only the decay is removed, preserving healthy tooth structure.

Strict moisture control
Rubber dam or isolation methods keep the tooth clean and improve bonding strength.

Premium, tooth-coloured materials
Durable composites that blend naturally with your teeth.

Attention to detail
A careful dentist will slowly layer and inject composite to avoid bubbles that may cause future pain.

Proper shaping, polishing & bite adjustment
Ensures smooth surfaces that resist staining and a comfortable bite.

Documentation & transparency
Before-and-after photos taken with an intraoral camera so you can see the results.
Know What to Look For in a Dental Cleaning
A quality dental cleaning should be more than a quick polish. Here's what defines a good treatment:
Comprehensive Oral Examination
Not just a cleaning — your dentist should assess your gums, teeth, and oral hygiene before starting.
Gentle, Thorough Scaling
Plaque and tartar should be removed carefully using both ultrasonic and hand instruments, not rushed or overly aggressive.
Polishing with Purpose
Be cautious if polishing is done only with a rubber cup — that’s typically used for children. Adult stains often require airflow polishing (ProphyJet) for effective stain removal. Ask if this option is available.
Cleaning Done by a Dentist vs. Hygienist
When done by a dentist, you're getting care from someone trained to identify and treat overall oral health issues — not just polish teeth. This includes spotting early decay, bite problems, or gum disease.
Charting & Documentation
Are they recording your gum health, pocket depths, or plaque levels? Proper charting helps track progress and detect issues early.
Before & After Visibility
Can you see the difference? A quality clinic will often show you before-and-after images — especially when using high-magnification or intraoral cameras — so you're not just told, but shown what’s been cleaned.
Treatment Overview
Advanced Composite Restoration
A composite filling is a precise, thoughtful treatment designed to restore both function and appearance. It starts with an assessment — your dentist examines the tooth, takes X-rays if needed, and selects a natural-looking shade. Before photos are taken for reference, and if necessary, local anaesthetic is used to keep you comfortable. The tooth is isolated for cleanliness, and only the damaged area is gently removed using magnification for accuracy. The composite material is then layered, bonded, and cured with a special light. After shaping and polishing to match your natural tooth, a final bite check ensures it feels just right. Post-treatment photos show the result — so you can see the difference for yourself.

Who Benefits from Fillings?
Dental fillings are a simple, effective solution for a variety of concerns. They’re ideal for treating cavities or tooth decay found during routine check-ups, repairing chipped or broken teeth, and replacing old or worn-out fillings. They’re also a great option for anyone looking for natural-looking results without metal, or for those experiencing sensitivity from enamel wear or small cavities. By addressing decay early with a filling, you help prevent more complex — and costly — treatments like root canals or crowns later on.

FAQs
Filling Questions Answered
How long do composite fillings last?
Composite (tooth-coloured) fillings can last 5–10 years with good oral care and proper technique they can often last longer. Lifespan depends on the filling’s size, location, bite forces, and habits like grinding or chewing hard foods.
Do they cost more than silver fillings?
Composite fillings may cost slightly more than silver (amalgam) fillings, but we do not recommend amalgam as its use is discouraged worldwide due to mercury content and aesthetic concerns. Composite offers a safer, tooth-coloured, and more modern solution that blends naturally with your smile.
Can you replace my old silver fillings?
Yes, we can safely remove and replace old amalgam fillings with natural-looking composite restorations.
Do they require special care?
No — composite fillings don’t need special care. Simply brush twice a day, floss daily, and see your dentist regularly. Avoid chewing very hard objects (like ice or pens) to keep them lasting longer. You can even start using the filled tooth normally right after your first visit.
