Chief Complaint
Patient reports pain and swelling associated with distally impacted tooth #38 and requests its removal.
Clinical Findings
Tooth #38: Distally impacted, causing pain and swelling.
Treatment Plan
Local anesthesia (LA) for the removal of tooth #38.
Pre-operative Assessment
Pre-operative CBCT reviewed.
Procedure explained to the patient, who agreed to proceed.
Anesthesia
Local anesthesia block of left inferior dental nerve (IDN), lingual nerve (LN), and buccal nerve (LBN).
Surgical Procedure
Patient cleaned and draped.
Incision made and buccal flap raised.
Bone guttering performed.
Tooth #38 sectioned and extracted in 5 pieces.
Curettage performed and the area irrigated with saline.
3 BSS (bone, saline, and sutures) placed for primary closure.
Hemostasis achieved.
