Chief Complaint
Patient decided to have the retained root of tooth #35 removed.
Clinical Findings
Pre-operative CBCT taken.
IDN plotted, with close proximity to the mental nerve.
Treatment Plan
LAOP removal of tooth #35.
Risks of paresthesia to lower lip and tongue, OAP/OAF, explained.
Procedures explained.
Informed consent taken.
Pre-operative Assessment
Patient understood and agreed to proceed with the treatment plan.
Anesthesia
Local Anesthesia (LA) block (L) IDN, LN, and LBN administered.
Surgical Procedure
Patient cleaned and draped.
Incision made, buccal and lingual flap raised.
Bone guttering performed.
Tooth sectioned and retained root of tooth #35 elevated out in two pieces.
Curettage and irrigation with saline.
BSS x 03 placed for primary closure.
Hemostasis achieved.
Post-operative instructions (POI) given.
