  • Fractured tooth #27

  • Retained roots

Treatment Plan

  • Removal of tooth #27 under local anesthesia (LA)

  • Pre-operative CBCT taken

  • Patient advised and agreed to the procedure

Pre-operative Assessment

  • Informed of risks including paresthesia to lower lip and tongue, and potential for oroantral perforation/fistula (OAP/OAF)

  • Procedures explained, and informed consent obtained

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia infiltration at tooth #27

Surgical Procedure

  • Patient cleaned and draped

  • Incision made, buccal flap raised

  • Bone guttering performed

  • Tooth sectioned and elevated out in three pieces

  • Currettage and irrigation with saline

  • Bioactive synthetic scaffold (BSS) placed x3 for secondary closure

  • Hemostasis achieved, post-operative instructions given
