Inferior dental nerve (IDN) plotted.
Treatment Plan
Surgical removal of tooth #48 under local anesthesia.
Risks and procedures explained to the patient.
Informed consent obtained.
Pre-operative Assessment
CBCT taken to assess the position of tooth #48 and the IDN.
Anesthesia
Local anesthesia block (right) for inferior dental nerve, lingual nerve, and long buccal nerve.
Surgical Procedure
Patient cleaned and draped.
Incision made, buccal flap raised.
Bone guttering performed.
Tooth sectioned.
Tooth #48 elevated out in 11 pieces.
Curettage and irrigation with saline.
Bone substitute placed for primary closure.
Hemostasis achieved and post-operative instructions given.
